Fall 2026 Team Entry and League Formation Guide Key Dates

Minnesota Youth Soccer Association (MYSA) Registration Opens: Coming soon (MYSA will notify clubs)

SMSL Team Entry Deadline: August 7, 2026

Final Schedules Released: August 31, 2026 or sooner

Fall Season Kickoff: September 12, 2026 then six straight weekends of schedules games
MYSA Affiliation

SMSL operates under MYSA’s new league affiliate process where Clubs will now complete all player and adult registration directly with MYSA.
MYSA will handle

Player & adult (coach/manager) registration with US Youth Soccer

Background checks, SafeSport, concussion training
-
Insurance services
-
Team creation and roster management in PlayMetrics
Benefits to clubs:

Faster insurance certificates

Streamlined tournament and travel processes

Centralized non‑league services
PlayMetrics will function nearly the same as SMSL’s system from the past year.
Requires Team Entry Process
Step 1 — Re‑Affiliate with MYSA
Complete MYSA reaffiliation for the new soccer year. At least one club administrator must be active in PlayMetrics.
Step 2 — Register Players & Adults
Register competitive players, coaches, managers, and administrators directly with MYSA. MYSA will invoice clubs for these registrations.
Step 3 — Create Teams in PlayMetrics
After registration:

Build teams in MYSA PlayMetrics

Generate rosters, player passes, and travel permissions
Step 4 — Submit Teams to SMSL
Once teams are created:

Enter teams and commit all team fees into the SMSL Fall League (by August 7 Deadline)

SMSL will finalize schedules by end of August
4. 2026–27 SMSL Fees

Fall Team Fee: $275
-
Spring–Summer Team Fee: $350

Roster Assignment Fee: $5 per player/adult

Supports rising league costs and new technology

SMSL has not raised team fees in three years

These fees will be invoices to clubs during the season

5. Scheduling Improvements

SMSL is evaluating new scheduling tools within PlayMetrics to simplify the process, including:
